Today's Questions

1) Why does our society treat fertility as tho it's a disease to be abolished?

and

2) Why are these same people surprised and angry when the drugs they've used to prevent conception lead to a long-term inability to conceive?

If by "abolish" you mean "postpone", then I agree with #1. And then #2 makes sense: just because I wanted to postpone pregnancy for a few years, why would I be okay with never having children?

Clayton. I'll take the correction. Postponement makes sense.

My wonderment holds, tho, when it comes to taking medication that actively creates an environment inhospitable to growth, and expecting that conception will take place immediately after the treatment stops.

It's not all too unlike burning your garden with pesticides and expecting perfectly healthy and natural growth to occur after ceasing the practise.

Natural systems require time to purge themselves of contaminants before healthy growth can occur. They are resiliant, granted, but we can't expect years of abuse to be easily forgiven by our gardens or our bodies.

the other thing to consider is biological megnification. we're not just talking about one generation of hormonal contraceptive use, we're talking about four. higher infertility rates should probable be expected.

but perhaps more worrisome is the increased rates of osteoporosis, breast cancer, and other cancers that come with the prolonged use of hormonal contraceptives.

another question i have is why christians don't automatically apply their faith to the question of fertility pre-marriage.

Nice forward post on your blog. 1. Because conception is bringing life into the world and the devil is a sly guy. Anything to twist the human rights agenda into a way to promote the culture of lies and death.

2. People want to play God. It's that infamous first sin of pride, the first step away from God.
